Tiger Airways fined for spamming

Budget airline Tiger Airways has been fined $110,000 (S$139,500) by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) for continuing to send out e-mails to customers after they have unsubscribed from the marketing emails - reported by local newspaper The Straits Times.

According to the report, the authority has been investigating Tiger last December and "Tiger was found to have failed to unsubscribe customers from marketing email messages despite numerous requests from the customers to be removed from its marketing email database." The airline has agreed to "make improvements to its email marketing processes have them independently reviewed to identify further improvements."

Online subscriptions on websites to receive news and promotions is a useful way to be in the loop of all things latest. However to keep receiving emails that you do not want, or in this case you have already unsubscribed, can be a nuisance.

One of the key basics when doing EDM/email m…

Crystal Jade Jiang Nan

Crystal Jade Jiang Nan, quite a new place in Vivocity Level One, located opposite JPot. Previously this space was some burger restaurant. Pardon my vague memory. Haha..

It was quite a wait for a table for at least 15minutes. Dining on a Friday night in Vivo City, so a queue is inevitable. The restaurant was quite spacious too. There are many big tables, so those in big groups can choose to eat here. Their menu is quite extensive too. There's a lot to choose from, and we took quite a while.

The main pull for dining there was the colourful Xiao Long Baos, all different colours for the eight flavours. We didn't get the preset of  8+1  Xiao Long Bao as there's a beef flavoured one. None of us eat beef. So we choose our own. There's the original flavour, shrimp, spicy chicken, vegetable, black truffle and foie gras. There's also cheese and the beef that we didn't order.

The shrimp in the wanton taste very fresh and juicy. We saw that we can choose our noodle type, s…

Liberty @247

Liberty @ 247 is a drinking and dining place along Beach Road. I walk past this bar almost everyday. It's pretty small, but there's always people dining and drinking there every evening.

Their staff were pretty friendly, always smiling. They came by and asked about our opinion of our meal and also they were attentive. Haha.. I was dazing and looking at their TV when one staff thought that I needed help. The food was nice, filling and not too expensive.

Tonkatsu King

Tonkatsu King is located on the first level of Orchid Hotel, a three minute walking distance from Tanjong Pagar MRT. One can easily spot this small size Japanese shop with the big portrait banners on the outside, and the never ending queue outside the shop.

I have heard about this ramen place for quite a while now and wanted to try it, but the queue always had me think twice.

While queuing for your table, either get the order chit from the trolley by the queue or if they staff is free, they will hand it to you.

They call the ramen, Designer Ramen, as you can choose from taste of the soup, toppings to the noodle texture. They also let you select what you do not want, like the spring onion and black fungus, and pork charsiew, but why would anyone not want that? Ah...

You can choose the normal Tonkotsu Ramen, Black Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen or the Red Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen, each type with plain or three choices of toppings.

The waiting time was not as long as I thought it would be. I think we …

Crab Party

Crab Party is situated at the edge of a row of shophouses on Yio Chu Kang Road. They have tables indoor and outdoors. It's best to reserve a table before going down if you preferred to sit indoors or going in a big group as most of the tables had reservation tags.

We went at 7pm and the place was still quite empty. The hot tea selection, they only have two choices. Quite sad.

They serve Acha and Nuts ($1.00 for each plate) as our snacks while they prepare our meal.

The food came quite quickly. Overall, the meal was quite nice, service still not bad. Most of the service crew are FTs, all smiles and friendly. There's a guy who kept walking around tables, chatting, I assume he's the boss. Friendly atmosphere. Nice place to come back again.

There was some hiccups in using the toilet. The door lock can prevent the next user from coming in, and locking it the wrong way can lock yourself in.
